One day in class, I decided to take my student's art projects in a whole different direction. They were asked by their art teacher to make a tile to display around their school that broadcasted bullying or preventing bullying. At first the children were talking about the negatives and what people do to bully others; but I moved them into a different conversation. Instead of negatives, we focused on positives: which is who they are. We were able to freely speak about our cultures and differences; and it was a great experience.
This is a Johnson moment because the students all freely spoke about differences so that we can work towards a better world. It is a moment I will keep in my heart forever.
